Stronger Together: QIBN Launches Membership

Introduction

Almost a third (28%) of Australia’s Indigenous Business sector operates in Queensland. But in the sweeping Sunshine State, are these vital Indigenous businesses receiving the support, opportunity, and advocacy they require?

The Queensland Indigenous Business Network (QIBN) was established with that very question in mind. Rooted in the principles of growing economic prosperity and self-determination, our mission is to support and strengthen all Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned, -managed and -controlled businesses.

We are proud to announce the official launch of our membership; a crucial step in strengthening an essential part of Queensland’s economic landscape. Through this network, QIBN will drive growth by ensuring members have access to advocacy, visibility, and practical tools.

Our Driving Purpose

At QIBN, Indigenous businesses are a vital part of a unified community. We believe that every business, large or small, adds to a powerful collective voice that can create change and move mountains. As a representative body, we work to ensure that this collective voice is heard in boardrooms, tenders, and decision-making spaces. Indigenous businesses provide Indigenous business solutions, led by those who live and understand them.

No matter where they are based, every business in our network is seen, heard, and celebrated. From remote communities to regional centres and city precincts, QIBN brings members together through our upcoming regional hubs, statewide events, and Indigenous Business Gateway — creating spaces where stories are shared, successes recognised, and opportunities to grow.

Founded by experienced Indigenous business owners — Julie-ann Lambourne, Shane Kennelly, Leann Wilson and Colin Saltmere — QIBN was created to give mob a voice in business and decision-making. Our founders have walked the same road, navigating red tape, outdated systems, and unfair regulations. Through our extensive consultations, Queensland Indigenous businesses said they needed a network grounded in cultural strength and self-determination. That’s why QIBN isn’t just a business network; we’re a state-wide representative body working together for our communities to thrive.
